THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of rain with thunder at isolated places in Alappuzha and Kottayam in the next three hours. Winds may reach speeds of up to 40 km per hour. The IMD had earlier stated that instead of the 42.9 mm of summer rain that was expected in the state, 37.4 mm of rain has been received.

Two deaths were reported in the state due to yesterday's heavy rains. A tree fell on top of the scooter and the passenger died in Pathanamthitta's Adoor. The deceased has been identified as Manu Mohan (32), a native of Nellimukal. Lalithakumari (67), of Mangalathuveettil in Inchakkad, died after a rubber tree fell on her.

There has been widespread damage due to rain in south Kerala. The MEMU train from Kollam to Punalur and back was canceled after trees fell on the track between Kottarakkara railway station and Avaneeswaram. Madurai and Guruvayur trains were halted at Punalur.
