KILIMANOOR: Vanadeepthi Plantation has become a model for the forest department by creating a natural forest. The forest department officials have completely removed the acacia and mangium plantations of twenty hectares of forest land and planted fruit trees and forest trees here to make it a natural forest. Until 2011, there were only mangium and acacia here.
In 2013, with the help of Social Forestry, these trees were removed and 48 different species of fruit trees and forest trees were planted and through five years of continuous care activities, the place was converted into a natural forest.
When there was acacia plantation, there was no water in the wells and ponds in the nearby areas, but now that has also been resolved. Students and adults are provided an opportunity to learn about different fruit trees, forest trees and the activities of the forest department. With the resumption of trekking, more people will arrive here.
