KATTAPPANA: Two persons have been arrested by the police for allegedly trying to extort money by threatening after stealing a man's title deeds and cheque leaves. The arrested have been identifed as Joby (30) of Elavankunnil in Kattappana and his accomplice Praveen (31) of Melattu House in Thookkupalam. The stolen documents belong to Padikkara Joseph, the owner of Alphonsa Tours and Travels, which operates in Kattappana. Joby worked in the same company. Then he threatened the owner of the establishment using Praveen. The accused demanded Rs 50 lakh from the owner. After this, Joseph lodged a complaint with the police. Subsequently, the accused were caught in an investigation conducted by the police under the leadership of Kattappana DySP VA Nishadmon. The accused were nabbed by a team comprising SHO Vishal Johnson, SIs Sajimon Joseph and MS Shamsuddin. Both were produced in court.
