THIRUVANATHAPURAM: Christians across the world are observing Maundy Thursday, which falls before Good Friday and Easter. The day commemorates the washing of the feet and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples. Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, Mar George Cardinal Alencherry led the special mass at Mount St. Thomas Church in Kochi. Cardinal Alencherry, in his Maundy Thursday message reminded the believers about the importance of unity and love.


In Delhi’s St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral, Head of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, Baselios Marthoma Mathews III led the special prayers.


On this day. Churches conduct special services including 'washing the feet' ritual and believers break unleavened bread in memory of the Last Supper.
