KOZHIKODE: DGP Anil Kant on Thursday said that the police cannot say anything about the terror links in the Elathur train attack case for the time being. He told the reporters that the police would look into whether the accused carried out the attack by himself.
"We need to get a clear picture before speaking about things such as imposing the UAPA. The police need to check if the accused carried out the attack singlehandedly. For the time being, we cannot reveal if the accused had a criminal background," the DGP said.
"The interrogation will begin after the medical examination. It won't be clear whether the accused has confessed to the offense or not until the interrogation is over. We will examine all aspects of the case. Things said by the accused need to be verified," he said.
The accused was nabbed in a joint operation by the Special Investigation Team, central investigation agencies and Maharashtra Police. When asked if petrol or any other substance was used to set the fire, the DGP replied that the police are yet to receive a report regarding it.
