THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government will investigate the contract anomalies that happened in the Jal Jeevan mission in Ulliyeri, Kozhikode. A letter was forwarded from the Jalvibhava secretary to the water authority MD calling for a detailed search into the scam. The report will be soon handed over to Minister Roshy Augustine. Earlier, the Kozhikode vigilance court called the Vigilance to start investigating the case. As part of the investigation, the vigilance wills scurry through the files in the water authority office in Thiruvananthapuram.

The report is lucid and brings out the scam which tells how the current north zone chief engineer P Gireeshan compromised his post to allow the contract to reach people of his liking. The report also calls for strong corrective measures against P Gireeshan whose lucrative endeavors have tainted the repute of the organization.

It was a Rs 321 crore worth contract for installing water testing centers in Ulliyeri Kozhikode. If there happens only one party in the contract then a retender process is imminent. To avoid this, the authority took experience certificates from two parties and fixed the contract for Rs 614 crores. It was a 10% hike from the fixed contract of Rs 559 crores which elicited doubts about corruption in the process. The tender process was also done in haste which made the officials reach the water authority for inspection.
