THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Reports say the BJP have plans to field Anil Antony, who joined the BJP, as a candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Unconfirmed reports said that he will be fielded either in Thiruvananthapuram or Chalakudy. BJP's decision is to make maximum use of the advantage of the Congress leader's son into the party. The BJP’s calculations are that many leaders of the congress are likely to follow Anil even before the Lok Sabha elections. It is believed that Anil's entry into the party will accelerate this. Many of the top Congress leaders are not happy with the leadership presently. The BJP also reckons that many of them think that there is no point in staying with the Congress.

BJP's move is to give Anil Antony more consideration in the party even though he does not have much influence. They hope that this will increase the flow of Congress leaders to the party and bring Christians closer to the party. Christians have already started coming closer to BJP.

If rubber prices goes up, the statement of Thalassery Bishop Joseph Pamplany that will solve the problem of the BJP not having an MP in Kerala, and getting indirect support from many including Thamarasseri Bishop has boosted the party. Soon, orthodox chief meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi is seen as a significant step forward. Though Anil Antony does not have much political independence in the Christian sector of Kerala, the political dimension of getting a noted Christian face is different. A K Antony is pained at the party celebrating his son’s entry to the BJP.
