NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Mansukh L Mandaviya on Friday said that Covid cases are rising sharply in India. In the wake of the rising Covid cases, the Union Health Minister chaired a review meeting with the health ministers of all states and Union Territories.

The Centre directed that meetings should be organised at the state level in the wake of the rising Covid cases. It also asked the states to hold a mock drill for Covid preparedness on April 11 and 12. The Centre further directed the states to increase testing and genome sequencing and strictly follow Covid norms.

Meanwhile, India recorded 6050 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours, This is a significant jump from Thursday's tally of 5335 cases. The country's active Covid caseload currently stands at 28,303 with a daily positivity rate of 3.39 percent. 3,320 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours. The overall recovery rate currently stands at 98.75 percent.
