KOZHIKODE: Shahrukh Saifi, accused in the Elathur train fire case, has been produced in the court. He was produced before the judicial first-class magistrate. There was tight security in the court and its premises. A murder charge has been imposed on Saifi for setting fire on Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express Train. It has been found that the accused has a role in the death of the three. UAPA has not been imposed. Murder charge was not imposed in the case registered by the railway police. However, murder charge was included in the investigation by the local police.

The accused has been remanded till April 20. Munsif court judge S V Manesh met the accused in Kozhikode Medical College. Saifi, lodged in special cell room in the hospital will be shifted to the jail.

In the meanwhile, the NIA team has reached Kozhikode to collect information. A team including Kali Raj Mahesh have reached Kozhikode from Bengaluru.

Saifi has been remanded for 14 days. The accused will be shifted to district jail after discharge and will be subjected for an examination in the hospital on Monday again.
