KOZHIKODE: Shahrukh Saifi, the accused in the Elathur train arson case, has been remanded in police custody for 11 days. He was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate this evening. The police asked permission from the court to keep the accused under custody for two weeks. Police demanded that the accused should be taken to the train bogie, which is to Kannur's now, for evidence collection, and time is needed for questioning him. The court granted custody of the accused for 11 days accepting these arguments. The police brought Shahrukh Saifi to court under heavy security.

It is assumed that Shahrukh Saifi will be brought to the Maloorkunnu police camp and questioned in detail and a questionnaire will be prepared for this. The accused will be brought to the place of attack for evidence collection. The police will also trace the journey of Shahrukh Saifi. During interrogation, the accused said that no one had helped him. The doctors had checked and assessed that the accused had no serious health problems.


Meanwhile, there are indications that lawyer BA Aloor will appear for Shahrukh Saifi. It is reported that Aloor is taking up the case on the request of the accused's brother.
