THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department updated that there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in the state from April 7 to 11. According to the notification, there is also a possibility of strong winds with gusts of 30 to 40 kmph.
Rain is likely in three districts of Kerala in the coming hours. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Malappuram districts are likely to experience thundershowers at isolated places and wind gusts of up to 40 kmph. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has informed that there is a possibility of 0.5 to 1 meter high waves and storm surge on the Kerala coast till 11.30 pm on Saturday.
Thunderstorm warning
Move inside a safe building as soon as you see the first sign of lightning. Staying in open areas increases the chance of being struck by lightning. Keep windows and doors closed and stay away from doors and windows during periods of strong winds and thunderstorms. Unplug household appliances. Avoid using landline phones during thunderstorms. It is okay to use a mobile phone.
