KOCHI: The Kochi Municipal Corporation has issued a tender for setting up a new biowaste treatment plant in Brahmapuram. It is said in the tender that the new plant should be constructed within 8 months at an expense of Rs 48.56. The main condition in the contract is that the plant should be capable of treating 150 tons of biowaste per day.
Only those with a minimum experience of 5 years and prior expertise in handling 43,000 tons of waste per year can participate in the tender. The concerned party should be able to start the operations of the plant from the ninth month after taking up the tender. The contract also states that those who take up the tender should do maintenance work after operating the plant for 5 years.
Meanwhile, the Kochi Corporation has clarified that the tender was not invited in connection with the recent fire that broke out in Brahmapuram.
