NEW DELHI: India logged 5,357 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours amid a nationwide upward trend in daily cases. The active Covid-19 case tally now stands at 32, 814 with a test positivity rate of 3.39 percent.
The sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in the last few days has triggered an alarming situation and many states have issued Covid guidelines and made masks mandatory again. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a review meeting on Friday to access the Covid situation in the country.
Meanwhile, Kerala registered 1801 fresh Covid-19 cases, roughly one-third of the total new cases in the country. Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam are among the districts seeing a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases.
Kerala Health Minister Veena George announced the new Covid guidelines making masks mandatory for pregnant women, the elderly and people with lifestyle diseases.
