CHERPPU: The Kerala police have left for Kerala from Mumbai with the first accused in the case of beating to death a bus driver in Chirakkal. They are coming by train. Rahul (34) of Chirakkal Kottam Nelliparambu, the main accused in the case of beating up Sahar (32) of Cherpu in Thrissur, was arrested from Mumbai airport yesterday.
A lookout notice issued for the accused helped in the arrest. The immigration department nabbed Rahul while coming from the Gulf. They later handed him over to the police. The accused will be brought to Thrissur tomorrow.
A team led by Rahul brutally attacked Sahar on February 18 when he went to meet his married woman friend at night. The police had so far arrested 14 including those who help the accused. Many including his woman friend were questioned. Only Jinju of Moorkkanad, involved in the attack, has to be nabbed again.
The CCTV footage from a nearby temple showed the men attacking him brutally. Sahar sustained injuries to his kidneys and ribs.
