MAVELIKKARA: CPI (M) leader S Sreejith, arrested for misbehaving with students has been suspended from the party. The decision to suspend the Chettikulangara South local committee member and Chettikulangara Panchayat standing committee (Health & Education) Chairman was taken at the party’s Mavelikkara area committee meeting.


Sreejith was working as a teacher at SNV TTI, Kakkazham. He was arrested on the charges of misbehavior and sexual overtures towards students. Initially, four students filed a complaint with the school management but they refused to forward it to the police. Then, the students approached the District Police Chief directly and the police arrested him. However, he was released after the court granted him bail. Sreejith was arrested again following the complaint of another student.


BJP and Youth Congress workers had organized protests in Chettikulangara demanding action against the CPI (M) leader.
