KOCHI: Christians in Kerala celebrated Easter to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Mar George Cardinal Alencherry, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, led the special prayers at Mount St. Thomas Church in Kochi. Churches across the state witnessed a massive turnout to attend the special ceremonies associated with Easter.
Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan extended wishes to the people on the occasion. In a message issued from Raj Bhawan, the Governor said, “May the celebration of Easter brighten our minds with hope and empathy and motivate us to seek happiness in serving the weak and the deprived in a spirit of love and harmony.”
CM Pinarayi Vijayan while extending Easter greetings said that the memory of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice inspires us to dream of a better tomorrow filled with joy and peace.
The festival signaled the end of a season of reconciliation, prayer and contemplation of the messiah’s suffering, crucifixion and resurrection.
