KOZHIKODE: Six persons, including a woman, were arrested in the case of smuggling gold through parcels from Dubai. Azia from Munniyur; Yasir, Ranish from Malappuram; Shihab, Jazeel, and Yasir from Kozhikode were caught by the Revenue Intelligence. The team smuggled 6.300 kg of gold in iron boxes and other electronic devices. It is estimated that it will cost more than three and a half crore rupees.

The parcel arrived at the address of Azia, Jazeel, and Yasir. The gang of six was arrested when they went to the Kozhikode sub-post office to get the parcel along with Shihab, the mastermind behind the gold smuggling.

Gold will be sent from Dubai to multiple addresses. The DRI informed that the usual practice of Shihab is to come with the address owner and accept the parcel. DRI stated that Shihab had smuggled gold through foreign parcels earlier as well. The parcel which reached the foreign post office in Kochi was under surveillance by the officials.
