KOCHI: The Excise has started a probe to find the large-scale drug manufacturing facilities in Ernakulam and Idukki districts. MDMA is manufactured here with the help of African citizens.

Three centres at Ernakulam and one in Idukki is being monitored. Malayali drug dealers had brought the African citizens staying in Bengaluru to Kerala by offering huge amount. It is reported that each centre has more than one African citizens.

Okafor Eze Emmanuel, an African-born expert in MDMA cooking, was arrested last August by Palarivattom police from a secret centre in Bengaluru. He is still in jail.

12 types of chemicals are used to make MDMA. The trick is to add these in right amount and proportion. Africans are experts at this. If this goes wrong, the user may lose his life. Africans only pass on the manufactured drug after testing it by themselves. It has been reported that Malayalis are learning cooking from them.

Drug smuggling from Bengaluru continues unabated. Last month, the police seized 0.5 kg of MDMA and the Excise seized 50 grams.
