KOZHIKODE: The grilling of accused Shahrukh Saifi in the Elathur train fire case is still continuing. It is mainly investigated whether he had received help from Kerala. The accused reiterated that he had committed the crime alone even when questioned the other day.
The investigation team believe that after setting D1 coach on fire in Alappuzha- Kannur Executive Express, his plan was to set fire to D2. The accused will be subjected to a medical examination Monday morning. He will be later taken to collect evidence.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had submitted a report to the union home ministry the other day stating that Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) should be imposed on Shahrukh Saifi as a terrorist connection is suspected. The union home ministry had the other day sought a report from the Kerala Government. The government had not issued a report as the police procedures were not completed. Meanwhile, the NIA had given a report directly to the centre.
