THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Government issues order that a service tax should be paid by the people who want to file a complaint in the taluk level adalat, conducted as part of the second anniversary of the government. A service charge of 20 rupees will be charged through Akshaya Kendras for applying for adalat. According to the order of the IT department, an additional fee of Rs. 3 per paper should be paid for scanning and printing the application. Grievance redressal adalat is conducted under the leadership of Ministers to resolve the pending grievances.
The application has to be submitted through Akshaya Kendra before attending the adalat held at Taluk centres. The director of Akshaya had given a letter to the government pointing out the cost incurred by the Akshaya Kendras through this. Considering this matter, the government decided to collect a service charge from the complainants.
Statewide grievance redressal adalats will be held this month and next month. After accepting the complaints in April, the ministers will come to the adalat in May. Adalats for redressal of public grievances at the taluk level will be held in the presence of officials of the Collectorate, concerned taluk, and the department concerned with the grievance.
The district-level responsibility of the Adalat is given to the Ministers in charge of the respective districts. Each district will have three ministers. The ministers who are free will be allotted to the districts where additional ministers are not available. Administration and organization are the responsibility of District Collectors. Complaints were received on working days from 1st to 10th April. A mechanism was provided for the public to submit complaints directly online, through Akshaya Kendras and Taluk offices.
