After controversy erupted over the action of not mentioning the name of the person who drove the car in the FIR, the police secretly arrested Jose K Mani's son KM Mani Junior (Kunjumani) the next day and later released him on bail. The accident took place on Saturday night near the BSNL office in Manimala.
The police had initially said that the accident occurred on the Manimala-Muvattupuzha road when the bike in which the two brothers were travelling rammed into the car from behind after its driver allegedly applied a sudden brake.
