THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI is all set to demolish M N Memorial, party’s state committee office, and construct a new building. The construction of the building with all modern facilities is aimed to be completed in one and a half years.

The party expect an amount of Rs 10 crore for the construction of the new building. The party is planning to collect this amount from the public. Their plan is to provide accommodation for the party leaders. A parking facility for 40 cars will also be there. However, there will be no change in the outer structure. The party headquarters will be shifted to S Sreenivasan Memorial Study and Research Centre till the new building is constructed.

The M N Memorial was the headquarters of the CPI till the split of the party at the national level in 1964. This building was built in 1957 during the time of the then party secretary M N Govindan. This two-storied building was named M N Memorial in 1985.
