KOZHIKODE: The police are likely to collect evidence with accused Shahrukh Saifi in the Elathur train fire case, today. The investigation team will collect evidence from Shornur, Kannur and Elathur with Saifi.
There was widespread criticism against the investigation team for not collecting evidence from the spot of the incident. Questions such as why the evidence collection is delayed even though the medical team has given a report that the accused's health condition is satisfactory, why is there a delay in handing over the investigation to the central agency if the state police does not get any trace.
Though Saifi was interrogated for six days, no vital information has been obtained. Even as central agencies confirm terror links, the Special Investigation Team headed by ADGP M R Ajith Kumar is yet to get any clue.
Meantime, the Kerala Police has expanded its investigation in Delhi. It is indicated that the investigation is divided into five groups. Things including where Saifi went are being examined. A decision on NIA taking over the case is likely to be taken soon.
