KOCHI: An agreement was reached in the BJP Kerala Core Committee meeting held yesterday to make strong efforts for Christian support. The meeting presided by party's Kerala prabhari Prakash Javadekar at Gokulam Park in Kaloor assessed that the party can make huge gains in the state by obtaining the support of the Christian community.

The presence of non-members of the Core Committee such as party's state vice president KS Radhakrishnan, former Union Minister Alphons Kannanthanam, Yuva Morcha state president Praphul Krishna, Mahila Morcha state president Adv Niveditha and others led to speculations that the core committee was reorganized. However, the party later issued a press release stating that this news was baseless. The absence of committee member Suresh Gopi was also noticed. It is indicated that KS Radhakrishnan and Alphons Kannanthanam were asked to participate in the meeting in order to discuss further steps with Christian churches.

The Core Committee also assessed the preparations for 'Yuva' which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kochi on April 25. A women's conference will also be held in Thrissur next month. The resolution passed by the Core Committee stated that Prime Minister's visit to the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church has increased the self-confidence in minority communities and that the worries expressed by the LDF and UDF in Kerala over this show their fear of failure in the upcoming election.

Modi to attend roadshow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will reach Kochi on April 25, will take part in a roadshow. He will inaugurate the Yuva conference at Thevara College Ground at 5 pm. The roadshow will be from the naval base to Thevara.
