NEW DELHI: Police have taken a case against two in the shocking gunfire that killed four soldiers inside a military base in the northern border state of Punjab. According to the witnesses, the two assailants came masked and aimed fire at the barracks. The police have taken statements from soldiers present during the incident.
The two assailants came adorning white kurta. After the firing, the two ran into the forest nearby. The incident happened early at dawn when the soldiers were sleeping in the barracks. Sagar, Kamalesh, Santhosh, and Yogesh are the four soldiers killed in the firing. The four were in a slumber when the firing pierced through their tent. The southwestern command denied any terrorism angle while also informing that the attackers carried guns and knives including other weapons. The forensic search is ongoing inside the Bathinda military station.
Meanwhile, the army asked the people on social media to restrict themselves from surmising the incident and giving new tales as it may affect the investigation. The incident happened at 4 am in the morning.
