THRISSUR: A 54-year-old man who sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under various sections and to pay a fine of Rs 50,000. Kundukulam Joy, the convict, hailing from St. Raphael Nagar, Ollur, was sentenced by Thrissur Fast Track Court Judge Bindu Sudhakaran. There is a special mention in the judgment that the fine amount should be paid to the survivor.

The said incident took place in 2018. The Ollur police registered a case on the complaint of the child's mother. After the arrest, the accused got out on bail and did not appear in court thereafter and violated the bail conditions. So the court cancelled the bail and completed the trial in judicial custody. Fast Track Court special public prosecutor Adv KP Ajay Kumar appeared in the court for the prosecution.
