welfare-pension

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the center deciding not to pay center’s share through the state government, the welfare pension given to a section of the people will be less this time. There will be a drop of Rs 200 to 500 in many categories from the Rs 1600 currently given by the government. The government’s pension is given to around 50 lakh people, out of which only 4.7 lakh people get the central share which is in arrears for two years.

The central share is in the amount of pension given to four lakh seven thousand people in the old age, widow and differently abled categories. The center gives Rs 200 to Rs 500 as pension in various categories. If the state government has paid Rs 1500 so far including the amount to be paid by the centre, this time it will be less than that. This means that for the category which includes the central share in the pension amount, this time the money they get will be less by Rs 200 to 500.

When the state government gives Rs 11,000 crores per annum for welfare pension the center pays Rs 360 crores. The finance department said this amount is pending for two years. The decision of the Center is that hereafter the centre will not pay the share through the state government. Instead, the central allocation will directly reach their accounts.
