IDUKKI: The forest department officials is yet to find a suitable place after the High Court asked the government to reconsider its decision to shift the rogue tusker 'Arikomban' to Parambikulam. Meanwhile, the mission team that came to the district in connection with the operation is in a quandary as the proceedings are dragging on.

Rs 7 lakhs has been spent on the team so far. Kumki elephants have also been staying in the Chinnakanal region for about a month. Even with the coming of special days, the mahouts and important officials are not able to stay away from the place. In the meantime, a direction has also come from the court to monitor Arikomban 24 hours a day. The High Court will consider the case again on April 19.

The people of Chinnakanal and Shanthanpara region are worried as the mission continues. Congress and CPM are preparing to protest again against the government. Chinnakanal and Shanthampara panchayat presidents are also on strike against the government.

A change in the case of the radio collar

The decision to bring the radio collar from Bengaluru for 'Arikomban' has been abandoned due to technical reasons. The decision is to bring the collar from Assam instead. It is expected to reach Kochi by air cargo today.
