THRISSUR: Four persons were arrested for beating up a youth named Santhosh (32) on charges of areca nut theft in Killimangalam. Areca cut trader Abbas (48), brother Ibrahim (41), cousin Althaf (21) and neighbor Kabir (35) were arrested under non-bailable offences. Chelakkara police said that more arrests will be reported in the case. Santhosh, who was seriously injured, is undergoing treatment at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital.

Areca nuts were regularly stolen from Abbas’s home. He identified Santhosh from the CCTV footage received near his home. Chellakara police reached the spot after knowing the incident and took Santhosh to the hospital.
