ALAKODE: A Keralite identified as Albert Augestine (48) of Kakkadavu in Alakode, Kannur has succumbed to his bullet injuries on Sunday amid army-paramilitary clashes in Sudan. Augestine, who was working for the Dal Group Company in the African country was hit by a stray bullet through the window on Saturday. Augestine, an ex-soldier, was working as security manager in the company for six months.

His wife Sybella and young daughter Marita had reached Sudan to spend their holidays with him two weeks ago. They are reported to be safe. The incident happened when the three were to return home. He leaves behind his father Augustine and mother Mercy. His son Austin is in Canada. His siblings are Starley and Sharmi.

The embassy added that they are in touch with Augestine's family and medical authorities to make further arrangements.
