THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sybella, the wife of Albert Augustine, who was killed during a civil war in Sudan, sought urgent help from India. Sybella said that the body could not be shifted from the flat even after 24 hours and she and her daughter were living in fear in the basement of the flat without even food. They also requested the government to help immediately.
At the same time, Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said that the family of Albert Augustine will be provided with necessary assistance. The Union Minister informed that he spoke to Albert's father on the phone and the steps to repatriate the body are in progress and the Indian Embassy in Sudan has been instructed to coordinate further steps.
Albert Augustine, a native of Nellipara, Kannur, Alakode, was killed in Sudan last night. Albert Augustine was an employee of the Dal Group of Companies and was 48 years old.
Clashes are going on in Sudan between the army and the paramilitary. Albert Augustine who got killed was also a veteran. The embassy had advised Indians to remain indoors as the clashes continued. The Indian Embassy's suggestion came after several shootings in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan.
