THRISSUR: Many crave a return to childhood days. Such talks are quotidian and pop at times unknown. However, Fasra Banu and Sadiq get little joy thinking back about their childhood. While every child ran through fields jumping and dancing to whatever tunes, both Fasra and Sadiq got cloistered in their homes. Come now, the locals and neighbors are in awe and shocked seeing both of them moving in their wheelchairs juggling basketballs.

Fasra Banu and her husband Sadiq never moved out of a wheelchair from age 1. The ailment came from polio which made them shackled into a wheelchair for life. However, the couple has not yet given up on chances and is ready with new endeavors to overcome such burdens. The two are now traveling across the country in wheelchairs participating tournaments. In the south zone basketball, the Kerala women's team involving Banu finished in the prized third spot.

Kurkancheri native Fasra is a graduate of economics. While her parents went in search of a groom, Fasra pointed her fingers toward fellow relative Sadiq. Both of them shared the love long before and wanted a life together. Sadiq now works in a mobile shop while Fasra is busy preparing for PSC examinations.

Every Sunday, evading all hassles at home, Fasra and Sadiq travel 30 km from their home in a three-wheeled scooter to attend basketball practice. Some days their children Saha and Sahiyan will happily accompany them.
