ALUVA: During an argument with a neighbor over bursting firecrackers on the eve of Vishu, the old man who tried to stop the attack on his son, fell on his head and died instantly. The deceased is Peter (74), who lived on rent near Keezhmadu Ration Shop Junction. Viju (42), who lives in the same rented house, was arrested by Edathala police in connection with the incident.

The incident took place on Friday at 12 o'clock. Viju and Peter's son Binoy were living on rent at two different parts of the house. According to the police, Viju had attacked Binoy in the backyard of his house for questioning him about bursting firecrackers. Peter, who tried to stop him, was pushed by Vinu, and Peter hit his head against the wall. He was seriously injured and brought to the Aluva District Hospital, but was pronounced dead by then. Police arrested the suspect who went absconding with his wife after the incident, on Sunday.

The investigation team consisted of Inspector PJ Noble, SI Sudhir, ASI Jamal, and SCPOs Bineesh and Shebin.

Peter's body was buried at Ettekkar Church after a post-mortem at Kalamassery Medical College. Wife: Mary. Other children: Sindhu, Bindu, and Sandhya. Nephews: Baby, Pathrose, and Varghese.
