THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP's maneuver of allying close with the Christian factions is creating wedges in the congress in Kerala. Prominent leader K C Joseph wrote a letter to KPCC calling for bigger attention to BJP’s Christian outreach. However, the letter was termed ‘puerile’ by KPCC president K Sudhakaran which incensed many leaders in the A group in Congress.
No leaders except K C Joseph came agasint Sudhakaran's comments. Meanwhile, K Muraleedharan remembered Sudhakaran about the party norms prohibiting any public criticism of other members. Surprisingly, the rule was initiated by Sudhakaran himself.
What irked Sudhakaran was not Josephs's statements but the latter giving the gist of the letter to the media before sending it. Sudhakaran was reacting to the media after meeting Jospeh Pamplany, the controversial Archbishop, who rose to instant fame after his support to BJP in Kerala.
Sudhakaran reacted strongly to the BJPs move saying the saffron party will fall flat with their agenda in garnering Christian votes from the southern state.
Meanwhile, Joseph reacted stoically to Sudharkaran's comment but said the leader's plan to meet Pamplany was good if not late. Joseph said the congress is feeling the void left by mass leader Oomen Chandy and talked about the premonition in Kerala about how BJP is roping in Christian votes from Congress Bastions.
