THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Lokayukta has come out justifying the verdict in the CM relief fund misuse case. In an unusual press release, the Lokayukta stated there is no basis in the split verdict allegation and that it has no liability to explain its verdict.

The Lokayukta also clarified that it is not mandatory to read out the different verdicts. The press release also mentioned about Iftar party hosted by the Chief Minister.

' We attended the dinner hosted by the Chief Minister, not by an individual. The thought that the Lokayukta will issue a favourable verdict after attending the feast is ridiculous. The 'rabid dog' reference was misinterpreted. The complainants and their accomplices insulted the judges, including on social media. Judges cannot issue orders as per the wishes and interests of the parties,' the press release said.

The two-member bench of the Lokayukta had criticized RS Sasikumar who filed a review plea demanding a re-examination of the verdict in the CM relief fund misuse case. The Lokayukta had also asked the petitioner to produce evidence to prove that the judges were influenced by the Chief Minister.
