KOZHIKODE: A student who suffered from vomiting after eating ice cream died. Ahmed Hasan Rifayi (12), son of Arikulam native Muhammad Ali is the deceased. He is a class 6 student at Changaroth MUPS. He died in a private hospital in Kozhikode on Monday morning. Rifayi ate ice cream on Sunday evening, he sought treatment at a clinic near his home and later at Mepayyur due to vomiting. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode on Monday morning as his condition worsened. But he died later. The post-mortem took place at Kozhikode medical college.

The ice cream shop was temporarily closed and sealed. Koyilandy Police and Health Department inspected the spot. The sample of food was collected. The area was inspected by the Health Inspector. The medical officer said that it is not possible to say that the cause of death was ice cream consumption and the cause will be clear only after receiving the post-mortem report.
