KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate has confiscated property worth Rs 1.13 crore and gold worth Rs 27.65 lakh belonging to two accomplices of accused KT Ramees in gold smuggling case through diplomatic channel. The properties of Coimbatore native Nandagopal and Kozhikode native TM Saju were confiscated.
The ED had found that Nandagopal and Saju were the financiers of gold smuggling through the diplomatic channel of the UAE consulate in Thiruvananthapuram. Based on the statement of KT Ramees that they had given him money, the ED raided the houses and establishments of both of them. The gold was smuggled by Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair, who were employees of the UAE consulate.
