NEW DELHI: Woman MLA shut down toll plaza due to inadequate facilities. Sangrur MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj shut down the toll plaza in Bhawanigarh, Punjab. The action is for one day based on the complaints received against the toll plaza.
The MLA and her supporters closed the toll plaza as a warning to address the lack of legal means. The MLA said that if the shortcomings are not rectified, the toll plaza will be closed down completely, and she will approach the court against the responsible company.
Many complain that a huge amount is collected as toll without providing necessary facilities on the road leading to the toll plaza. The public raised complaints, such as the repair work on the road not being done, non-functioning lights on the national highway, non-removal of accident vehicles and dead animals, and the non-functioning of all but one ambulance, against the toll plaza.
Noticing the outpour of complaints, the MLA had personally visited the toll plaza on April 5 and informed that the shortcomings should be resolved promptly. The MLA came with her followers and took drastic action after the toll booth officials did not follow her instructions. It is reported that the MLA has told them that if the complaints are not resolved within 20 days, the toll plaza will be closed indefinitely and that she will approach the court.
