THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has assured all support to question the infallibility of governors who flout federal principles while declaring solidarity with the Tamil Nadu government's struggles against the governor. This was in response to a letter sent by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin seeking cooperation for a united struggle.
In his letter to Pinarayi, Stalin pointed out that the bill passed by the Tamil Nadu assembly outlawing online rummy has been held without signing despite giving all the explanations sought by the governor. Many states in the country are facing a similar crisis. The Tamil Nadu government has started a fight demanding a timeline for governors to sign laws passed by the assembly. On April 10, the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly passed a resolution to stop this demand and sent it to the Central Government and the President. Stalin also hoped that the Kerala Assembly would pass a similar resolution. The resolution passed by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly is also enclosed with the letter.
In his reply, Pinarayi assured that Kerala will be with him as a loyal ally in the fight against the unconstitutional action of the governors who keep the bills without signing them. Even though the ministers and officials have given satisfactory answers to the doubts raised by the governor, the bills have been withheld by the governor in Kerala too.
Pinarayi also promised Kerala's full cooperation in the fight against attempts to undermine the rights of democratically elected governments.
