NEW DELHI: Kerala governor Arif Mohammed Khan looks to battle the state government in the supreme court over the reappointment of Dr. Gopinath Raveendran as Kannur VC. Governor, who is also the chancellor submitted an affidavit in court citing the reappointment broke the UGC norms of the university. The state government did a rejoinder by submitting another affidavit saying all the norms were followed in the appointment.
Governor was involved in the case after Dr. Premachandran Keezhoth and Shino P Jose filed a petition in the supreme court contesting the appointment of Gopinath Raveendran as Kannur VC. According to the governor, the 2018 UGC norms are not duly followed in the appointment. Raj Bhavan also pointed to the HC decision supporting the appointment as wrong.
