KOLLAM: A police officer died after being hit by a container lorry on National Highway 66 near Mevaram. The deceased has been identified as A Anas (32), a member of Adoor KIP 3rd Battalion and security officer of Thiruvananthapuram Reserve Bank. He is the son of Chandanathoppu native Abdul Salam and Jameela Beevi.

The accident happened at 6:30 yesterday morning. Anas was going from his wife's house to his ancestral house in Chandanathoppu. Although he was immediately rushed to the nearby private medical college hospital, his life could not be saved. Anas was alone in the car. Wife: Salila. Son: Aedin.
