arikomban

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court accepted government's demand in the plea regarding the relocation of Arikomban. The court allowed more time to find a place if Arikomban could not be shifted from Chinnakanal to Parambikulam. The high court's interim order stated that the government itself should find the place. The plea was considered by a bench comprising Justice A K Jayasankaran Nambiar and Justice P Gopinath.

The government should inform the expert committee in a sealed envelope on how Arikomban is being translocated. The court said that if the expert committee approves the place decided by the government, they can proceed without waiting for the decision of the high court.

Arikomban should be monitored until a new place is found. In addition to Idukki, a task force should be there in Wayanad and Palakkad. They should study human-animal issues. DFO and revenue divisional officer should be in the task force. After studying, the report should be submitted in the court, said the bench.
