KOZHIKODE: In the witness examination of the Ponnamattam Roy Thomas murder case in the Koodathai murder series, the case has been further strengthened by the testimony of other witnesses. The 97th, 101st, and 102nd witnesses in the case have testified that Jolly was leading her life by pretending to be an NIT professor. The 97th witness Thamarassery Alphonsa English Medium School Principal Father Jilson Joseph, the 101st witness Raiji Mathew and the 102nd witness Koodathai NJ James were examined by the Marad Special Court yesterday.
Father Jilson testified, during the hearing of the Additional Special Prosecutor Adv E Subhash, that the first accused in the case, Jolly, had attended the PTA meeting. Father Jilson informed the court that Jolly had introduced herself in the PTA meeting as an NIT teacher. Father Jilson testified that she wrote that she was a teacher on the school applications for her son Ronald. NJ James testified that he is a member of the editorial board of the Parish Directory under Koodathai Lourdes Matha Church and is a retired treasury officer. James testified that it was Jolly who gave the information of the Ponnamattam family in the directory and Jolly said in the directory that she was an NIT teacher. Raiji Mathew testified that he was a witness to the point that the directory was presented to the police by the church authorities. Advocate Prashant cross-examined the witnesses for the first defendant. The cross-examination was based on the argument that Jolly was giving a false statement due to her animosity towards the church authorities. The witness examination will continue today.
