THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The People For Animals (PFA) is planning to take legal action in the incident where the bear fell into a well in Vellanadu and died after being tranquilized by the forest department. The PFA activists said the decision to tranquilize the bear inside the well is irresponsible and an act taken without thinking and will file a case tomorrow itself against those who took such a decision.

The PFA in their Facebook post said the intervention of experts who do not even have the idea of a school child that if an animal lying in water loses consciousness, the chances of saving it are less than half. The doctor who fired the shot is a person having experience of years. He is a kind person. The post said that it is still a surprise how anyone can take such a decision. The post said the PFA is worried on the next dart towards Arikomban.

The forest department tried to rescue the bear that fell into the well in the house last night. The bear drowned soon after it was tranquilized. Tried to take out the bear from the well but was unsuccessful. Though the fire force took the bear out after pumping out the water, the life of it could not be saved.

Tranquilizing the bear without pumping out the water is alleged as a serious lapse from the side of the forest department. Soon after the shot was fired, the bear sank to the bottom of the well. The shot was fired due to the fear of the animal turning violent if taken out. The bear fell into the water while trying to lift it in the net. The doctor who fired the shot said the bear fell into the water as the net got loose on one side.
