THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister V Sivankutty said the schools in the state will open on June 1 after the summer vacation. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate Praveshanolsavam, the minister said while speaking at a meeting of teachers' organizations called in connection with the opening of the school.
The number of first volume textbooks to be distributed in the coming year is 2,82,47,520. Out of this, printing of 1,74,60,775 textbooks have been completed and the distribution is in progress. The distribution of five kilograms of rice to the children has been completed. A meeting of school PTA presidents related to mid-day meal scheme will be held at the district level from May 5 to 15. The steps to ensure availability of clean water and cleaning of wells and tanks will be completed before May 30 with the help of PTA. Green Campus-Clean Campus scheme will be implemented to keep the school and its surroundings clean.
As soon as the results of SSLC and CBSE 10th class are declared, the admission process for plus one will start. The minister also informed that the government will take a decision in this regard after considering the report of the higher secondary batch restructuring committee. 51 teachers’ union representatives participated in the meeting.
