AHMEDABAD: A special SIT court in Ahmedabad acquitted all 68 accused, including former BJP minister Maya Kodnani, in the 2002 Naroda Gam massacre case. The court pronounced the verdict in favour of the accused due to a lack of evidence for the crime.
After the Godhra train fire, 11 Muslims were massacred in Naroda Gam. The verdict in the case came after a 13-year-long trial. Besides Maya Kodnani, Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi is also an accused in the case. There were 86 accused in the case. 18 of them died during the trial period. Six judges have heard the case so far.
