VIZHINJAM: An elderly woman found stabbed to death in the bathroom at her home in Mangalathukonam in Balaramapuram. The deceased has been identified as Shyamala (71), mother of Vinu of VS Bhavan in Mangalathukonam.

Shyamala, who lives in Amboori, came to her son's house 10 days ago for the festival at Mangalathukonam temple. She was found dead yesterday morning when she was called to give tea. A deep cut was found on the neck. A bloody knife and scissors were found in the house. The bloodstain in the bathroom was washed away which raised suspicions. The relatives informed that the necklace Shyamalawere wearing was missing, the police said. Rural SP Shilpa Devaiah arrived and conducted an inspection. The SP says that the wound on the neck adds to the mystery.
