RIYADH: Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday in the Gulf countries except for Oman. UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain will celebrate Eid on Friday as the new moon has been seen in Saudi Arabia. Eid al-Fitr in Oman is on Saturday.
Oman's Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that Eid al-Fitr will be on Saturday, the first day of Shawwal month after completing 30 days of the month of Ramzan as the Shawwal moon is not visible yet. In the Gulf countries including Oman, the Ramzan fasting started along with Kerala this time.
At the same time, the government of Dubai had paid the salaries of the government employees in advance in view of Ramzan. The salary for April was paid in advance on Monday 17th on the instructions of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Salaries were paid before Eid-ul-Fitr so that employees can celebrate the festival with their families without any hassle.
