VAIKOM: Husband buried the body of a premature baby born to a non-state woman in Thalayazham Alathur. After the neighbors informed the health department, the police reached the spot and secured the place where the body was allegedly buried.
20-year-old Aisha, a native of Delhi, is the wife of Najimulshek, a native of Bengal. Aisha who lives on rent in the house of local resident Suresh Babu in Thalayazham Alathur, gave birth at eight o'clock on Wednesday night after suffering abdominal pain. Aisha, who is the mother of a year and two-month-old baby, came to her husband only last month. The woman told the doctor that she did not know that she was pregnant as she stopped menstruating after the birth of her first child. The family of four siblings who gains an income by selling scraps lives together in the same rented house.
When Aisha had a stomach ache, the woman in the house called the elderly lady from the neighboring house for help. When they reached the house, they found Aisha lying in a state of exhaustion in the bathroom, with the motionless premature baby nearby. The neighbor gave a statement to the police that she saw the woman's husband going out with the baby's body in a bag while the neighbor was returning saying that the woman should be taken to the hospital immediately. The incident came to light after the neighbors informed an ASHA worker on Thursday afternoon. After being informed by the health department authorities, a large police team headed by Vaikom ASP also reached the spot. The place where the dead body is believed to have been buried was marked and guarded by the police. Today, in the presence of the RDO, the carcass will be taken out.
