NEW DELHI: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 1 crore each to the families of soldiers who lost their lives in Poonch terror attack. Five soldiers were killed in the attack and four of them are Punjab natives.
Havildar Mandeep Singh, Lance Naik Debashish Baswal, Kulwant Singh, sepoys Harkrishan Singh and Sevak Singh had been killed. The army paid homage to the soldiers. Senior army officers presented floral wreaths at a ceremony held in Rajouri. BSF held an emergency meeting in Jammu under the leadership of DG BSF regarding the incident.
At the same time, the army is conducting extensive searches for terrorists in the forest area. It is suspected that the terrorists have received local help. Prime Minister Narendra Modi assessed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir after the terror attack.
